Day 4- Dec 6, Monday

On Guhagar beach
The Cycling in-sanity had already started demanding a lot from us in small bursts of mental balance and physical churnings and the outlook of the entire trip had changed. “It`s not going to be so easy as we had thought it would be”.

And the shocking move was Bani had changed his frowning perspective towards Sunscreen.

The Route
We had our breakfast and decided to spend few minutes on beautiful Guhaghar beach before setting on our daily chore, Pedalling wheels.  Within a km of pedaling, we overcame a long stretch of steady gradient and then took a right from the State highway entering an inner road to Hedvi. The road to Hedvi really started defining the coming terrain for our days ride.  A big gradient section followed by a long plateau with scorching sun and no shade that would end abruptly into a descent into small hamlets. We pitstoped at Hedvi for a banana break and got some info regarding the route and the feasible ferry locations.

Rest under a Big Banyan

The next 15 km turned out to be a stretch of biggest number of climbs within such a short distance . Four big climbs and a disregard for locals misguiding for saying only three . The climbs ended with half an hour break at local white-wash bus stop and few light moments of laughter. Another half an hour and we reached to a dead end from where we caught up a Cowboys-ferry ride to Jaygad.

Cowboy Smile

About 2.15pm , after half an hour sail to Jaygad on the creek  we had a decent lunch of Fish Thali and few Sol-kadis. The road ahead to Ganpatipule starts with an immediate fight with a climb so steep, literally looking directly on your face and demanding a go-back motion. But the climb was anyhow conquered with strong legs, few burps and fish masala reverting back to our throats.

Jaygad and a sight of Dolphin sightings

The next 20 km upto Ganpatipule is a pleasure ride
giving a breathtaking view of the sea, level-heading
with the road and a happy-feeling to jump and bathe
 in the sea.

 Misfirings
On our road to Hedvi, we stood glad
that today we were really making good miles and
could end up making lots of lost ground. Instead the
day turned out to be the “least-kms-in-a-day” day of
the entire trip. Just 55 kms . The cause was big lactic
acid build up in our muscles due to the big climbs
 leading to fatigue.

The Bus-stop
The Gag
Gag of the Day
After few minutes of  rest at the Bus-stop just before Jaygad, Dibakar spotted an aircraft flying in the sky and abruptly started cryin to the people in the it,

“ Help help , bachaao mujhe yeh pagal logo se , Saale mujhe cycle pe Goa le ja rahe hai.”

Improvisation
We decided to end our day in Ganpatipule and give ourselves a small break from the climbing frenzy. Also the evening turned out to be our firsts when we freed our cycles of all the luggage dumping it in the Hotel and rode with an excitement of a Free man.

CycloSophy
Every climb on a Bicycle is an outright fight with your physical self, any odds which are against you and every pushing second transcends into a moment of truth to witness the expanding possibilities.

Rewards
We set along with the Sun in magnanimity of the sea sipping a beer and admiration from few tourists on the beach for cycling from Bombay.
